The story goes, I’m a ‘girl’ (old boiler) from Oz and I’ve spent the greater part of the last 20 years on BMW’s, building them into dedicated sidecars.
With that in mind, I had a pair of mad keen biker parents (both now gone) who wanted to be in/around bikes to the very end.
Mum had 3 strokes, a colostomy and stage IV breast cancer over the last 8 years and we still managed to adapt a sidecar to get her around Australia and do what she loved (being around bikes).
Not bad when you’re around the 80 mark!
A few days before her last major health issue, I bought a 2003 VTX 1800C simply to develop a dedicated outfit for her – it has everything an outfit could want (to start). Alas, not long after she was taken from me and I put the VTX build to the back-burner as I went back to work (to pay the bills!)
Around Christmas time last year, I decided to bite the bullet and start the project. Well, you name it, it happened – floods, lots of water, more water… did I mention water???? However, by late February, I had built a sidecar outfit – follow the story!
